Dr. Hilje van der Horst (1976) is assistant professor at Wageningen University, where she is part of the chair group Sociology of Consumers and Households. Before occupying this position she worked as a researcher at the Delft University for Technology and the Meertens Institute. She acquired her Phd from the University of Amsterdam with a dissertation on migration and material culture. Her main interests are in material culture, consumption, constructions of public and private and plural societies.
