- Browsing
To view the contents of the current issue, click on the "Current Issue" link on the home page.
The home page also includes a link to each volume and links to the "author index", the "keyword index" and the "taxonomic name index".
To view the contents of any online issue, it is also possible to click the "Archive" button at the top of the pages. This will display for each volume a list of articles per issue that are available for browsing. At the top of the archive also links are given to the "author index", the "keyword index " and the "taxonomic name index".
To see the full text of an article, choose the [Article] link. To see one Abstract, click on its [Abstract] link. To see one table of content, click on its [TOC] link.
You can navigate through the article with the navigation block on the right side of the screen. Options are: top, references and section titles. Links in the text of the article to the citations, figures and tables and author affiliations are also available.
- Viewing Figures
For each figure which belongs to an article a "thumbnail" (small version of a figure)
appears in a framework included with the caption. Clicking on a thumbnail displays a
larger version of a figure.
It is also possible to view the figure in a new window in your browser. You don't need any additional software to view this images. If you open a figure in a new window, you can go back to the article by closing the window with the figure or by switching between the two windows.
- Printing
Use your browser's Print function for printing the articles.
To use this Print function, in most browsers you can select Print under the File menu.
- Searching
Clicking on the Search button gives you a search screen. By entering one or more search terms in the spaces provided and starting the search action you will get articles with these terms in the text. It is possible to limit your search to certain parts of the article, for instance to "abstract" or "title". Select a date or volume range if desired

- Web browser requirements
For Internet Explorer a dynamic font player is downloaded, through
an ActiveX Control, the first time you view a page with dynamic fonts
(Netscape has the ability to use dynamic fonts by default).
- Viewing Multimedia
To view multimedia files, you will need to install the appropriate helper
application for the specific file type you wish to view. Your browser must also
be configured to recognize the file type and open the file with the appropriate
software. Most browsers, including Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer
come already configured to recognize the types of multimedia files used by DPC.
- Video
If you click on the link to video fragments, the files can be viewed with
"QuickTime". This viewer plays almost any movie format. QuickTime viewers can function
either as browser helper application or stand-alone applications. Download a free QuickTime viewer at :

- Audio
If you have a sound card, most of the time there is already a player available.
Just click on the link to the audio fragment.
- Streaming video or audio
Streaming video or audio can be viewed with the helper application
RealPlayer Basic. A freeware version is available at:
http://www.real.com/realone.
It is also possible to use Windows Media Player which is available at:
